- August of 2004 I was at Jack Holden’s for the first time going thru his cow herd and came across this 2 yr old nursing this huge bull calf that was almost as large as her. The pasture had about 50 bull calf pairs grazing and my eyes kept going back to this pair as we circled the property. The calf was a tremendous individual in his performance and had fantastic phenotype. We all would recognize him as the 4140 bull that Shafer’s in Texas would advertise on the back cover of the world for several years. His mother the moderate framed milky productive maternal factory was 2111M. When the opportunity to purchase her arose all I could think about was that day in Jacks pasture nursing 4140. 2111M is an own daughter of the 496 Cooper Cow who anyone involved in Line1 cattle is aware of and sired by the Maternal Giant 767. These 2 individuals are the cornerstones of many Line one herds and they are the foundation of her pedigree. 2111M’s EPD’s have proven her to be listed as an Elite Individual in the Hereford Breed with BW in upper 4% and Milk, M&G and REA in top 1%. Her nursing ratio is 119% and progeny Yearling and REA ratio’s of 110% and BW ratio of 99% respectively.
